SciLifeLab (SciLifeLab) is a national center for molecular biosciences with focus on health and environmental research. The center combines frontline technical expertise with advanced knowledge of translational medicine and molecular bioscience. SciLifeLab is a national resource hosted by Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm University and Uppsala University. Main ResponsibilitiesAt the SciLifeLab and Wallenberg National Program for Data-Driven Life Science (DDLS) is a 12-year initiative that focuses on data-driven research, to train and recruit the next generation of life scientists and create strong and globally competitive computational and data science capabilities in Swedish life science. The program aims to strengthen national collaborations between universities, bridge the research communities of life and data sciences, and create partnerships with industry, healthcare and other national and international actors. We are now looking for a Data Science lead at the SciLifeLab Bioinformatics Platform (National Bioinformatics Infrastructure Sweden: www.nbis.se) to help shape and accelerate the adoption of advanced machine learning and AI in data-driven Life Science research. At the SciLifeLab Bioinformatics Platform (NBIS), a unique national infrastructure with over 120 experts, you will have a key role in strategic and practical planning together with the SciLifeLab AI lead, and other national and international partners. Part of your time will also involve contributing to selected research projects, provide guidance on advanced analytical and AI-driven methodologies, and engage in postgraduate training on a national level. Additional QualificationsRelevant postdoctoral studies or equivalent industry experience are a strong merit but not a requirement. Programming knowledge in Python, and experience of data science tools such as Numpy, Pandas or Matplotlib is a merit, as well as experience of using modern deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch and Tensorflow, or from advanced usage of LLMs. “Reproducible research” and “FAIR data” are central concepts to us, and we value experience in the development of reproducible code through code sharing platforms, version control, workflow languages and container solutions. Documented ability of responsible and legally compliant adoption of machine learning/AI methods for sensitive personal data is a merit, as well as experience of AI model validation and/or interpretability.
