Fixed-term position for 3 years, convertible to continuing position subject to performance and funding availability

The School of Agriculture, Food and Wine (AFW) seeks to appoint an emerging research leader in food science, associated with food production, and with experience in undergraduate learning and teaching within the Food Science discipline.

The appointee will be expected to initiate and develop a dynamic research program in their discipline and contribute to interdisciplinary research within the Department of Food Science and wider academic community. This will include the supervision and training of Honours/HDR students. The appointee will contribute collaboratively to curriculum design and delivery of the food science component for undergraduate and postgraduate courses/programs in food and nutrition science across the Department, including at Haide College (the University’s Joint Education Institution based in Qingdao, China, in partnership with Ocean University China). Design and delivery of intensive mode food science teaching offshore for at least one, three-week period of each year is required, as is travel to China to teach at Haide College.

To be successful you will need:

• A PhD or equivalent in food science, associated with food production.
• Demonstrated research excellence in food science, with a sustained publication record in highly regarded scientific journals.

• Demonstrated ability to lead an independent research program.

• Experience in design, coordination and delivery of innovative food science curriculum that is student centred at the undergraduate-level.

• Strong organisational, intercultural and interpersonal skills.
